BBW TV - Now There’s ‘More To Love’

Looks like the constant ranting we’ve done as plus-sized people has finally been noticed by reality show makers. According to this report, Fox has decided to team up with the guy who produced ‘The Bachelor’ – Michael Fleiss, to create a show meant for ordinary, “average” people.

The show will basically have the same format as ‘The Bachelor’ except the participants will not be supermodel lookalikes and jock wannabes.

For six years it’s been skinny-minis and good-looking bachelors, and that’s not what the dating world looks like,” Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell said. “Why don’t real women -- the women who watch these shows, for the most part -- have a chance to find love too?

The show is inspired by ‘The Bachelor’ but what really pushed Fox into it was the success of the American ‘Biggest Loser’ on NBC. According to Mr. Darnell, the ratings for Loser high enough to prove that the TV audience didn’t just want to watch attractive people – they liked to watch people like themselves.

The activities will be similar to ‘Bachelor’ but producer Michael Fleiss said the show will also have aspects of makeovers included. However, he was quick to add the focus of the show was finding love, not physical improvement.

We want to send the message that you can be the size you are and still be lovable,” said Mr. Fleiss “We aren’t going to thin these girls down so they can find love -- that’s a backwards message.

From what I’ve heard, ‘More to Love’ is currently casting, and no specific airdate has been set. Maybe our American friends can keep us updated?

Good concept, I just hope they treat the contestants with the respect they deserve. Also, I 'love that Fox has a "President of Alternative"!
