Is The BBW Admirer Hiding In The Closet?

Of all the posts I’ve written on this blog, I noticed that the one about BBW Admirers got the maximum attention and I thought it was definitely worth looking into more. Was I just writing about a theoretical concept or do they really exist? If so, why do we women find it so hard to actually find one? Have the so-called lovers of our fat gone into hiding?

This article I read on the website for Dimensions Magazine might help answer a lot of your questions and doubts about fat admirers. It makes them sound more real than when I try to convince you that they exist! Alfred Lubrano writes, “For men known as fat admirers – FAs, as they call themselves – Cindy Crawford is a genetic joke, Nell Carter is a goddess, and guys who chase thin women are running down the wrong road.

The article says that psychologists believe that a BBW admirer isn't abnormal but their passion is probably way too “understudied” to be scientifically explained!

While FAs remain a "mysterious" group because they were never the subject of serious scholarship, they're certainly not dangerous fetishists to be shunned, says Kelly Brownell, a Yale University professor of psychology, epidemiology and public health, and a leading expert on obesity.

In fact some psychologists and BBW admirers believe that liking a fat woman is almost like declaring you’re a homosexual – it’s just not something society expects of you. Hmmm…I never really thought about it that way!

Lubrano quotes noted psychiatrist and obesity expert from the University of Pennsylvania, Albert StunkardLike gay people discovering their preferences, fat admirers learn at 14 or 15 that they like to be with fat women," […] Men talk about being "in the closet" about their unpopular affinity until they "come out,"

This opinion is shared by 46-year old average sized man David Teich, who Lubrano interviewed. "You hear stories of gay people who grew up in isolated places where no one tolerates diversity," he says, "and you grow up feeling you're the only one like this. That's the way it was for me."

And I thought we alone had it hard! It’s definitely not all pretty for BBW admirers. Some FAs have been disowned by their families for their preferences. Societal pressures not only make it hard for fat women to be happy but make it hard for their admirers too. I know that’s horrible…I hate it that things have to be this way. But hey, don’t shoot the messenger!

Sally Smith of NAAFA says "Fat women are told that if they don't conform to conventional beauty, we are worthless,"[…]"That's why it takes a lot for a man to come out of the closet and say fat women are what he likes."

So ladies, that special BBW Admirer is out there…he might just take a little longer to come out of hiding! A lady on Yahoo Answers is really worried that her husband is just being nice about her being plus size but I love the reply Jim gives her. He’s obviously proof that BBW admirers do exist!

Oh, and don’t forget to watch this space while I figure out if there are any female FAs out there! (Or you could just subscribe to the blog and save yourself the trouble of waiting around for the next post to appear on the blog!)

as a skinny guy that has always been attracted to the plus size girls/women. i think it is hard wired in my brain. i definitely didn't get it from movies/TV or society in general. i like em shaped like women. not prepubescent boys with boobs. now all i gotta do is find my perfect mate who just happens to be curvy. and live happily ever after!
